baobabs in love

My dear friend Stephie recently visited Africa and while she was over there she made a side trip to Madagascar to see the majestic Baobab trees, the trees of life. These beautiful ancient trees are extremely important to the Madagascan ecosystem but they are also surrounded by culture and myth. This species of tree are believed to live between 2000 - 6000 years. There is one particular Baobab tree that she went specifically to see, the Baobabs in Love. This 600 year old tree has grown from two trunks intertwined. Stephie brought me back a wonderful carving of the Baobabs in Love tree from a local craftsman who resides in a tiny electricity-free town a few miles from the tree.
